This week Mrs. Lee has been summing up our Book Week activities and teaching her Library lesson students about The Indigenous Literacy Foundation.

The Foundation provides books & literacy resources for indigenous kids & families in remote communities. The Foundation has sent Mrs. Lee this great link. It will be national Indigenous Literacy Day in on 4th September. If you want too, you can Get Caught Reading like Andy Griffiths. Take a look at all the fabulous children’s authors taking part. You can make a donation, upload a photo of yourself & tell your friends.

During Book Week the Junior Library held a book sale for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. Many parents and friends from the Grammar Community donated books they no longer needed and then a sale proceeded over 3 days during recess and lunch-time. With such support the community has raised $400.00 to pass on to the Foundation. Importantly, our children have learned about the difference access to education means and how being literate is not something we should take for granted.

Thankyou you all for your support.
